For Clinicians
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network is an alliance of 21 of the world’s leading cancer centers, working together to develop treatment guidelines for most cancers, and dedicated to research that improves the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of cancer care. NCCN offers a number of programs to give clinicians access to tools and knowledge that can help guide decision-making in the management of cancer.
The NCCN Oncology Research Program (ORP) is organized to identify research projects important to both NCCN Member Institutions and industry, and to obtain funding to support the conduct of clinical trials. The NCCN Investigator Steering Committee, comprising senior research physicians appointed by each NCCN Member Institution, sets policies and standards for the program.
The NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ – the recognized standard of care in oncology – are the most comprehensive and most frequently updated clinical practice guidelines available in any area of Medicine. Covering 97 percent of all patients with cancer and updated on a continual basis, the NCCN Guidelines are developed through an explicit review of the evidence integrated with expert medical judgment by multidisciplinary panels from NCCN Member Institutions. Treatment recommendations are specific and are implemented through performance measurement. NCCN Guidelines Panels address cancer detection, prevention and risk reduction, workup and diagnosis, treatment and supportive care.
The NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium™ is an important source of information for case managers, managed care decision-makers, and other health care professionals who authorize treatment for patients. Based on the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™, the compendium delineates uses of drugs and biologics in the care of patients with cancer, listing FDA-approved disease indications and specific NCCN recommendations for use, as well as defining categories of evidence and consensus supporting recommendations.
NCCN is developing the NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates™ based on the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ and the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium™. The Templates include chemotherapy, supportive
care agents, monitoring parameters, and safety instructions. Special instructions for self-administered chemotherapeutic agents are provided.
NCCN Annual Conference:

NCCN Annual Congress:
Hematologic Malignancies™
The NCCN Annual Congress Hematologic Malignancies™ attracts over 600 attendees from across the United States. Since many aspects of these diseases are changing, this congress reviews multiple myeloma, chronic myelogenous leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, myelodysplasia and acute myeloid leukemia with respect to treatment at initial presentation, relapse, and when bone marrow transplantation should be considered.

NCCN Annual Forum:
Innovative Diagnostics & Therapeutics in Cancer Care™
This is an exciting time in the treatment of cancer as a result of the tremendous volume of research being conducted worldwide. Our evolving understanding of the genomic and proteomic signaling responsible for aberrant cell growth has led to substantial improvement in our diagnostic and prognostic capability. Advances in imaging technology integrated with sophisticated software have enhanced both morphologic and biochemical visualization of tumors. New targets for therapeutic development are rapidly emerging in this post-genome era and the generation of new agents to be studied and applied in practice has accelerated. This program will look ahead to what might be included in the NCCN Guidelines, and thus everyday oncologic practice.

JNCCN is dedicated to improving the quality of cancer care locally, nationally, and internationally while enhancing the collaboration between academic medicine and the community physician. JNCCN is further committed to disseminating information across the cancer care continuum by publishing clinical practice guidelines and reporting rigorous outcomes data collected and analyzed by the experts from the world's leading care centers. JNCCN also provides a forum for original research and review papers focusing on clinical and translational research and applications of the NCCN guidelines in everyday practice, as well as correspondence and commentary.
The NCCN Oncology Outcomes Database Project is a network based data collection, reporting, and analytic system that describes the patterns and outcomes of care delivered and achieved in the management of patients with cancer. The concept for the Project was established in 1996, and the operation of the first database in breast cancer was initiated in July of 1997. With the Oncology Outcomes Database Project, NCCN seeks to implement the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ through performance measurement.
NCCN collaborates with managed care organizations and insurance companies to facilitate patient access to NCCN Member Institutions and to improve the quality and outcome of care delivered to patients with cancer. NCCN works with payors to ensure that patients have access to specialized services and expertise available at these leading cancer centers. NCCN aims to facilitate this process so that patients and health professionals can benefit from NCCN Member Institutions’ commitment to providing the highest quality cancer care.
NCCN Cancer Case Manager™ is an informational resource for case managers designed to facilitate appropriate decision-making about the management and referral of all types of cancer, including those that involve complex, aggressive, or uncommon cancers. Cancer Case Manager profiles NCCN Member Institutions with specific reference to areas of expertise, pediatric oncology specialties, and programs in genetic testing and counseling. Additional information includes a directory of expert physicians from NCCN Member Institutions, a glossary of terms derived from the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™, and the NCCN/ACS Treatment Guidelines for Patients. NCCN Cancer Case Manager also instructs on how case managers can schedule an appointment at an NCCN Member Institution and receive information about current clinical trials.
