The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center was established in 1986 as a Center of Excellence at the University of Michigan Health System and received its comprehensive designation by the National Cancer Institute in 1988. The Cancer Center building is located on the U-M Medical Center campus and offers diagnostics, treatment, and support services dedicated to cancer patients under one roof, along with convenient parking. Multidisciplinary clinics form the core of cancer care at U-M, including care of patients with adrenal cancer, brain tumors, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, head and neck cancers, liver cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma, melanoma, Merkel cell cancer, pancreatic cancer, sarcoma, and urological cancers. The Center also offers a comprehensive range of supportive services, including a Patient Education Resource Center, Symptom Management, PsychOncology, Complementary Therapies, Nutrition Counseling, Child and Family Life Services, and Social Work Services. Innovative research efforts are always under way in the Cancer Center’s 20 basic, clinical, and prevention research programs.
