The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is the Midwest’s first and Ohio’s only fully dedicated cancer hospital and research institute, committed to the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer.  The James is the adult patient-care component of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and one of only 40 centers in the United States designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center.  In addition, The James is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).

The cancer program at Ohio State encompasses 278 comprehensive cancer center members from 12 of the 18 colleges at The Ohio State University and includes physicians from 16 specialties.  The James’ singular focus on cancer has led to multiple accomplishments that have changed the standards of care with respect to prevention, diagnosis and treatment, in a way that substantially improves outcomes for cancer patients.

The James is approved by the National Cancer Institute to conduct both phase I and phase II clinical trials for new anti-cancer drugs allowing patients access to some of the most advanced cancer treatments and clinical trials available. Ask Jai

Advice For Caregivers

Jai Pausch became a caregiver for her husband, Randy, during his 23-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Using her experiences to help others, Jai has written about the unique challenges caregivers face, dealing with loss, and creating a new life from shattered dreams. Her book, Dreaming New Dreams, will be published by Crown Publishing Group and is due out May 15, 2012. Currently, Jai is a writer, speaker and advocate for caregivers. She actively participates with several cancer organizations and serves as a board member for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the NCCN Foundation. She lives with her new husband and three children in southern Virginia.
