In 1996, three Harvard Medical School-affiliated institutions—Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center created a partnership to form the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center│Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. The collaboration provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to more than 12,000 new cancer patients annually.

Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center collaborate on joint clinical trials, education, training programs and quality of care improvements. They also work together with Children's Hospital Boston to provide pediatric care to children with cancer.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center rank as the top three independent recipients of National Institutes of Health research funding in the United States. Together, the centers activate more than 15 new cancer trials each month and have more than 460 active clinical trials underway.
